Angel One Fund investments in 3 Ukrainian startups in civil and defence tech

Over the past month, the Angel One Fund has invested in three Ukrainian startups: one in the civilian sector and two in defense technology through syndicated agreements. The investment ticket for each team remains within Angel One’s average check size.

According to Ivan Petrenko, Managing Partner of the Angel One Fund, today, the winners are not necessarily those who create the best products, but rather those who eliminate entire roles, constraints, and delays. AiSDR eliminates the need for a sales team, the DoD Solution reduces reliance on GPS and communications, and Deftak shortens the time between detection and defeat. While these are different markets, they all follow the same logic, and we are committed to investing in these transformative shifts.

In the civil-tech direction, the fund has made investments in:

AiSDR – is an AI-powered sales development platform that automates the entire outbound and inbound lead generation process—from finding prospects and researching them to sending personalized emails/LinkedIn messages and booking meetings
The raised investment will enable the company to accelerate product development and achieve its planned financial targets.

In the defense tech direction, under syndicated agreements, the fund has made investments in:

DoD Solution is an Estonian-Ukrainian defense-tech startup that develops an autonomy platform for unmanned and robotic systems. The company is building AURA — a full-fledged autonomy platform (hardware + software) that allows drones to operate independently in the absence of GPS, communication, and active electronic countermeasures. The solution includes single-board computers and its own AI stack for navigation, object recognition, tracking, and homing.

The company plans to use the funds raised to: develop the AURA platform and the autonomy AI stack; create new high-performance single-board computers for UAVs and interceptor drones; scale the business and enter international markets; and strengthen cooperation with drone manufacturers and defense partners.

Deftak, a Ukrainian defense-tech startup, is developing munitions that can be guided to their targets after being dropped. These munitions use a camera to adjust their trajectory during the fall. They can be installed on different types of drones, particularly reconnaissance drones, effectively converting them into strike drones. The funds raised will be used to expand production and implement this innovative solution.

The initial interaction between Angel One Fund and the defense companies DoD Solution and Deftak occurred at a Brave1 event where startups showcased their technologies. Both DoD Solution and Deftak are members of the Brave1 cluster, a collaborative platform that brings together participants in Ukraine’s defense-tech ecosystem and fosters the development of innovative defense solutions.
